Città della Pieve is the birthplace of Pietro Vannucci known as "Il Perugino" (1450 ca. - 1523) one of the most important painters of the Italian Renaissance master Raphael. The city retains some of his most important works such as The Adoration of the Magi of the Oratory of Santa Maria dei Bianchi, The Baptism of Christ Cathedral, The Descent from the Cross of the Diocesan Museum of Santa Maria dei Servi.
